Tod Tappert

Tod Tappert consults with a variety of organizations and their leaders as a coach and strategist. His work focuses on organization, executive, and board development and stems from a long professional history in senior executive roles in health care provider, health education, and policy settings. He uses the Enneagram in his work as a way of helping clients better understand themselves and their experiences in the workplace and beyond. From 2007 to 2018, he served as the vice president for culture and learning and the chief learning officer at the Greenville Health System, a 15,000-employee provider system in South Carolina. There, he introduced the Enneagram to 1,000 managers, leaders, and executives as part of a system-wide leadership development and organizational culture program. Before that, he was senior staff to the CEO of the University of Chicago Hospitals and Health System. He has over 35 years of experience in health administration and planning/public policy, including executive and leadership positions at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Greater Illinois Chapter, the Joint Commission, and the American Hospital Association-affiliated Society for Ambulatory Care Professionals. He also served as a strategic planner and senior health policy analyst at the American Medical Association. Early in his career, as part of the Presidential Management Fellowship Program, he worked in health policy and budgeting roles with the federal government. In addition, he has served on numerous boards of non-profit organizations over the span of his career and held officer and board chair/president roles in selected organizations. Tod earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan with concentrations in political science and religious studies. He also holds two master’s degrees from the University of Minnesota – one in public health administration from its School of Public Health and one in public policy and planning from its Humphrey Institute of Public Policy. Certified as an Enneagram Teacher in 2012 through the Narrative Enneagram, he also earned several certificates from the Enneagram in Business.
