Personality and Wholeness Book Study
Personality and Wholeness Book Study
Jun 26-Sep 4, 2025
Overview
In this practical exploration of Personality and Wholeness in Therapy, we will look at how the Patterns of Developmental Pathways (PDP) framework for understanding the Enneagram offers illuminating perspectives on personal and client-oriented work.
- The PDP framework suggests that our individual personality patterns reflect our inborn temperament and our early life history. Both have shaped how we juggle empowerment of our individual agency, primal needs for bonding and connection with others, and a sense of certainty and safety in this inherently uncertain world.
- Shifting to a dynamic understanding of types as verb-like tendencies can: 1) facilitate receptivity, catalyze personal growth, and foster wholeness, 2) make us less prone to identification with type, which impairs integration and growth, and 3) offer fresh and useful perspectives on the tremendous variation we see in the expression of type between and within individuals.
- In didactic presentations and interactive exercises, we will:
- • Explore the developmental roots of the nine types from a three-centered perspective
- • Gain new insights into the dynamic, verb-like nature of personality symbolized in the Enneagram figure
- • Understand the meaning of integration, growth, and wholeness from a fresh and empowering perspective
- • Consider practical applications in working with emotion and attention to promote change, growth, integration, and transformation
- • Be better equipped to share the wisdom of the Enneagram with more mainstream or scientifically oriented clients and colleagues
- Over the course of the book study, you will gain an enriched and practically useful understanding of traditional Enneagram teaching about the nature of the nine personality patterns and working with them toward the goals of personal growth, better relationships, and a more compassionate world.
