2018: The Year of Connections

August 16, 2019 | By Sheryl Cohen, PhD

We created a solid and stable infrastructure, stronger than either of the parent organizations provided. Under the able management of Executive Director Mary Freund, we navigated a million details (remember the last time you moved?) as we developed policies and procedures with careful attention to our core values:

  • Self-awareness
  • Integrity
  • Transparency
  • Personal transformation through spiritual, psychological and somatic integration
  • Commitment to working out differences
  • Generosity of spirit

Our small but stalwart staff kept the important work going as we also worked to expand our connections in the greater Enneagram community, both online and on the ground. We celebrated the 30th year of the Enneagram Professional Training Program – the world’s longest running Enneagram school – with an online gathering of the Narrative Enneagram Worldwide Community on November 19, with more than 1,700 attendees through our Facebook live feed, in addition to onsite celebrations in Dayton, OH and Menlo Park, CA.

We tracked more than 416,000 visits to our website – an increase of 55% over 2017 – from 215 countries and territories. We served 545 attendees across 20 different Narrative Enneagram trainings. We grew our membership by almost 25% from 264 to 329, and held a dynamic member retreat in Tucson focused on cutting-edge somatic work. We certified 10 new Narrative Enneagram Teachers and Practitioners who completed our comprehensive curriculum and internship programs.

Thanks to your generous donations, we awarded more than $27,000 in scholarships. Overall, we collected $146,903 in contributions and pledges, exceeding our 2018 fundraising goal of $135,000, including a remarkable gift that will allow us to begin developing a new mobile-responsive website. As our financial stability grows, we are still dependent on you, our donors, to help us bring the quality programs you have come to know and love.

2018 also marked the beginning of our own transformative work as an organization. Certified Narrative Enneagram Teacher and Organizational Consultant Tod Tappert began leading us in a strategic planning process to help us forge our evolving new identity.

We are proud to build your confidence in the integrity of the work of the Enneagram, and remain committed to being your trusted source for Enneagram theory and practice.
